5 day Field Training Officer (FTO)

5 Day Field Training Officer Class, based on the original San Jose FTO Program. Designed for Veteran Officers to teach them how to develop the skills necessary to effectively train and properly evaluate today's new recruit officers in preparation for their solo patrol duty.

• Officers will learn ways to tailor their department’s program to fit their department’s own needs.
• Officers will practice completing Daily Observation Report (DOR) forms and learn ways to consistently evaluate and grade their trainee's performance.
• Officers will leave with extensive knowledge and a comprehensive Field Training Officer Manual to guide them through the FTO Program and training new recruit officers .
• Officers will learn about training lesson guides and how to create them.
• Officers will understand and learn how to manage potential liability issues in training new officers .

Officers who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion.
