About the event
Officers attending will learn the following:
- Proper on scene note taking and documentation
- Understand 4 types of Police reports
- How to proactively document defense attorney's typical challenges
- Helpful tips and tricks to write legally sound and relevant police reports
- Ways to proofread and check for grammatical errors
- How to write smarter not harder following an easy template that Lt. Thibodeau created for the police academies
- Drunk Driving Reports (officers will receive sample pocket OUI cards and reports created by Lt. Thibodeau)
Officers who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of completion
Instructor:
Lt. Joseph Thibodeau is currently in his 31st year of Law Enforcement. Joe is a level IV Report Writing Instructor/Coordinator for the MA Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC). He has been instructing at numerous police academies and privately since 2000. He has been involved in 3 re-writes of the MA Report Writing curriculum. He has trained thousands of reserve, recruit and veteran officers as well as supervisors in numerous disciplines to include Report Writing, FTO, Suicide Prevention, Arrest and Processing and Communication. He is considered a subject matter expert in Report Writing.
